Jeddah's UNESCO-listed old town is a maze of coral-stone tower houses, their rawasheen balconies carved from teak shipped in from India. Many houses are now museums, galleries and cafés — don't miss Nasseef House and the restored Al-Shafi'i Mosque.
The district comes alive after 17:00 when the heat fades and the lanterns come on. Guided heritage walks run most evenings in season.
