Saudi Arabia's first UNESCO World Heritage site: more than 110 monumental tombs carved by the Nabataeans into golden sandstone, including the iconic solitary Qasr Al-Farid. Hegra is Petra's southern sister — older tombs, a fraction of the crowds.
Visits are by organised tour only (bus, vintage Land Rover or 4x4). Book the dawn or sunset slots for the best light, and combine with the Dadan and Jabal Ikmah inscriptions nearby.
