A 900-year-old fortress village of sixty multi-storey stone towers on the ancient incense route to Yemen, set in a lush valley below the Asir escarpment. The central tower houses a museum of the region's famous al-Qatt al-Asiri women's art.
The drive down from Abha via the switchbacks of Aqabat Sama is an attraction in itself — allow a full day from Abha.
