🚄 Getting Around Saudi Arabia: Trains, Flights & Road Trips
Saudi Arabia is vast — flying is often the sensible choice. Saudia, Flynas and Flyadeal connect all major cities, and fares between Riyadh, Jeddah and Abha are frequently under SAR 300 one-way when booked ahead.
Two rail lines matter to visitors: the Haramain High-Speed Railway links Makkah, Jeddah and Madinah at 300 km/h, and the Riyadh–Dammam line crosses to the Gulf in about 4 hours. Riyadh's new metro has transformed getting around the capital.
Driving is on the right, roads are excellent, and visitors can drive on many foreign licences for up to a year. Rent a 4WD for desert destinations like the Edge of the World; in cities, Uber and Careem are cheap and everywhere. Distances are long — plan fuel stops on remote highways.
